Kristine Ødeby Haugan is an archaeologist and researcher at NIKU.

Kristine has extensive experience in Norwegian archaeology, and at NIKU she leads large-scale excavations in urban areas and at church sites. Previous excavation projects include the Follo Line Project in Oslo, the Avaldsnes medieval ruins on Karmøy, and Stavanger Cathedral. She also has prior experience from major, multi-year Stone Age excavations, primarily at the Museum of Cultural History.

Kristine holds a PhD in archaeology from the University of Oslo (2025) with the dissertation An Archaeology of Nordic Seasonality – Urban life shaped by seasonal rhythm in Oslo 1100–1400. Her research field is mainly within urban archaeology and includes the exploration of spatiality and architecture, environment and temporality, and archaeological methodology, as well as church archaeology and runology.
