Jani Causevic is an archaeologist and senior advisor in the Digital Archaeology department. As a senior advisor, he works with digital documentation and archaeological geophysics. Causevic graduated from the University of Oslo, where he wrote his master’s thesis, and has been employed at NIKU since 2017. Jani specializes in technical methods such as laser scanning, image-based modeling (IBM), as well as reconstructions and animations in 3D. He actively works with GIS, GNSS, and total stations in his work, and has been a certified drone pilot since 2021.

Causevic is the quality manager for the drone program and is technically responsible for the maintenance of geophysical equipment at NIKU. This responsibility includes maintenance and repairs, as well as upgrades of the equipment park. Before specializing in technical methods, Jani worked on a number of archaeological field projects, including excavations, surveys, and monitoring, both in Norway and abroad. He has been a field leader on several archaeological projects and a project manager on several geophysical and drone missions.
