Dynamic landscapes of Cultural Heritage – past, present and future

The vantage point for the project was the large quick clay landslide at Kråknes in Alta, June 2020. A Stone Age settlement and a Medieval settlement was lost due to the landslide.

An interdisciplinary team was put together to visually investigate the geological and archaeological history of the area. Minor previous landslides were observed.

The archaeological and geological data in the Kråknes area was compiled to get an understanding of the area and its landscape changes.

The project was led by Jan Magne Gjerde from NIKU. Charlotte Damm from UiT, Louise Hansen and Anders Romundset from NGU participated.

The project was financed by Framsenteret.
