Kristin Møller-Nilsen is an archaeologist specialising in osteoarchaeology. She holds a Master’s degree from the University of Bergen and completed further training in human osteology in England. She is currently nearing completion of a PhD in animal osteology (zooarchaeology) at the University of Iceland (HÍ). Kristin has teaching and public outreach experience in both fields.
She has a broad range of field experience, including excavations and archaeological surveys in both Norway and abroad. In recent years, her work has focused primarily on Viking Age and medieval farm mounds in Iceland, with particular emphasis on associated midden deposits and their potential as valuable sources of information about past societies.
Kristin is especially interested in the interactions between nature, culture, people, animals, and the environment, and in what we can learn from the past to support a more sustainable and democratic future. She seeks to apply archaeology, and particularly zooarchaeology, to help address questions and challenges related to these themes.
Kristin is currently involved in excavation work in Bergen.
