Philip Wood is a Field Supervisor on the Søndre gate excavation in Trondheim. His main responsibility is the day-to-day running of the site, and will be part of the team producing the excavation report. He has worked in Norway since 2015.
Philip was educated at Durham University in England, and his primary research interest is in the early medieval period in Britain (AD ca.400-1100).
Prior to coming to Norway, Philip was employed as Field supervisor and then Project Manager at a private archaeological company based in the north east of England. The projects he was involved with included major road, rail and housing developments. He has supervised on a wide range of archaeological sites, from the Neolithic to early 19th century factories. This work has included settlements, production sites and cemeteries, and both rural and urban excavations.
