The workshop was a joint event of COST Action IE0601 “Wood Science for Conservation of Cultural Heritage” and the research project “Establishing standards for allowable microclimatic variations for polychrome wood” implemented by the Institute of Catalysis and Surface Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences in Krakow and the Norwegian Institute for Cultural Heritage Research (NIKU) in Oslo. The Polish-Norwegian project “Establishing standards for allowable microclimatic variations for polychrome wood” is supported over three years by a grant from the European Economy Area Financial Mechanism (2007-2010). The main aim of the project has been to broaden information on the variations of air parameters that are safe for the painted wooden surfaces.
